Rampart Academy Jiu Jitsu

I started training at Rampart Academy about 7 months ago. I had no experience prior to joining, which made me hesitant to start. After walking into Rampart Academy I instantly felt welcomed, and saw how strong the Rampart community is! Professor Rodas is an incredible instructor and truly knows how to explain things in a way for someone new to understand and comprehend.

I started training at Rampart Academy about 8 months ago. While I have an athletic background I have never participated in Jiu Jitsu. When I entered the academy I was welcomed by everyone and the atmosphere was nothing less than encouraging from both Professor Rodas and the other students. I did not feel intimidated and immediately loved learning this art. In just a few months I not only felt myself moving differently on the mats but I immediately felt a positive impact on other aspects of my life and work. Professor breaks down the techniques and makes sure his students understand the build up and the "why" to a move. We are given an opportunity to explore our techniques in open mat and practice moves we want to master. Another amazing part of my journey at the academy has been watching my daughter blossom. She has participated in the children's program and the academy has become her second home. She is excited to go to class and is doing back rolls all over the house. She has made new friends and is proud to be learning a new sport. It has given us more time to spend together doing something that we both really enjoy. She also stays to watch the women's self defense class and has learned just by observing (and I'm learning a lot watching the children's class). There is a place for everyone at the academy, both new and seasoned students and I have created many new friendships. I am grateful for this positive environment.

Werner is an amazing instructor and runs an excellent program for kids and adults. He has a wide range of knowledge in many areas of self defense. Training with Werner has certainly increased my confidence in dealing with high stress, physical altercations in law enforcement. I would highly recommend this school for anyone looking to learn more about self defense for themselves or their kids.

I began training with Professor Rodas at Rampart Academy two months ago with very little experience. Naturally, beginning training in any discipline can feel intimidating but from the first time on the mats, I immediately felt like part of the Rampart family. Rampart Academy provides a welcoming training environment with an emphasis on safety. Professor Rodas' attention to detail while teaching technique makes his lessons fun and easy to follow. I truly believe in Professor Rodas' program and I encourage anyone to drop by and check it out!

I have been training under the tutelage of Werner Rodas, owner and Professor of Rampart Academy, for 5 years. I can honestly say there is nobody I trust more to teach the art of Jiu jitsu and self-defense for both real life and sport Jiu jitsu situations. Professor Rodas teaches techniques in great detail, that I have personally observed and utilized in real-life scenarios (they work). I trust him not only with my own BJJ journey, but with my two young daughters as well. The academy is extremely welcoming to new students, and has some of the largest mat space around, which makes training safer. I cannot recommend Rampart Academy enough for children and adults, irregardless of experience. There’s a reason this academy is growing so rapidly.
