Hillsborough Township Police Department

I was pulled over because apparently if you have an under $100 unpaid parking ticket you never received it will massively complicate your life. At any rate, the attending officer had to do what he had to do but he didn't have to be as kind and empathetic as he was. In fact, every officer I ended up meeting was understanding and compassionate without ever being unprofessional. And lest anyone thinks that is normal I was then pulled over just a block away a few weeks later in Manville because apparently I hadn't fully fixed the issue, and I had a totally different experience. I mean, I haven't gotten a traffic ticket in like 15 years so a bunch in a few weeks is crazy but Hillsborough definitely gets a thumbs up for their officers

HPD provides residence with safety and security. they are friendly and knowledgeable.

I had to call for a non-emergent issue, but nonethless still important. The two officers responded and were professional, squared away and polite. You could tell in dealing with the task at hand that these officers were compassionate and empathetic. I am unsure if Hillsborough trains their police in mental health first aid, but these guys knew what they were doing and as a licensed counselor, I was beyond impressed! Thank you for your help today.

I moved to Hillsborough in 2000. Our townhouse complex is very confusing, especially walking the sidewalks. All the units look alike.
I had a contractor at my house that needed a lot of my attention with the repairs. My kids (almost 6 and 3) asked if they can look for the cat that had been posted as missing in our neighborhood. I'd seen that cat very close to our house and let them look for it within the 'green' of our complex.
An hour later, they didn't return. I walked the entire development calling their names to no avail. I began to panic and called the non-emergent number for Hillsorough PD.
The dispatcher was very calm and helped me to keep calm...until I heard the call in the background, "Two missing children, one wearing...the other wearing..."
In a heartbeat, I heard sirens as I was still on the phone with the dispatcher.
Cutting this short, both my children were brought home safe and sound.
