Fun fact... 2 of my great grandfather's and 1 grandfather helped build all that beautiful stone work through FDRs WPA, which paid people who were out of cash for all hours worked. Yes, back in The 40s the government put you to work if you wabted yo collect unemployment
Good well-maintained fields, reasonably clean bathrooms, basic snack stand Werth hotdogs, burgers. Very limited parking.
There are two playground options in one area, 1 big kid swing set, 3 toddler swing sets, 1 parent/child swing, and climbing structures. Right by the playground, there are fishing areas, a soccer field, and an open field by what used to be maybe a hatchery. Plenty of walking space, I see plenty of people walking their dogs in the area. Looks to be in the process of cleaning up (high waters and erosion took some of the pavilions, and for that, the pool is currently closed since it's being used as a holding ground for concrete blocks from construction). There's a development being constructed close by, so hopefully new home owners means more kids to enjoy the park I visited throughout my childhood and now my children's lives. Typically busy after school hours, but during the day, it's pretty quiet, other than the occasional fisherman. Great place for family photos or a quiet park date.
The baseball facility is used by ECTB for weekend travel ball tourneys and will require an entry fee to park there (ample parking). The infields are dirt with lighting, with below average quality mounds. The field location is convenient to major highways. Spectators will have real bathrooms and good views but getting hit by foul balls is a real concern. There is no shade and I could not see any batting cages either. There is a playground and natural creek area onsite.
Quiet, uncrowded. Didn’t see any fish in the creek, though. And there is poison ivy in the trees.
