We wanted a Veteran’s Funeral service with full military honors for our loved one so we went to R.T. Foard & Jones, Inc., in Newark, DE to handle the burial. It was important to the Family that the Funeral Home understood the rules and regulations of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery. From the first meeting, Madison and Whitney were sympathetic, friendly and completely professional. They were very knowledgeable as they explained our options thoroughly and patiently waited for us to make our decisions. Their attention to detail was amazing, they walked us through the process so that we had a perfect experience from beginning to end. The obituary on their web site was well written and beautiful. Whitney and Madison went above and beyond to provide excellent service and are truly an asset to the company.

My experience at R. T. Foard was outstanding. They arrange for the transfer of my mothers body from the hospital to their home. Since my mother was being cremated, I really appreciated them allowing me to view her body one last time; and she looked a lot better than when she did after she had passed away in the hospital.

All of the paperwork went very smoothly. They help me determine how many deaths certificates I would need. The biggest blessing and surprise was a beautifully made throw with my mothers larger than life face on the left and remembering Grace with her birthdate and death date month’s spelled out on the right. This was such a nice touch and totally unexpected.

I was very pleased with their help in editing her obituary and arranging for it to be placed in five different newspapers.

Another great service they provided was to meet with one of their funeral directors who is very knowledgeable about estate law. He also was able to recommend to us a real estate lawyer to help us with the sale of my mothers home.

All and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

R.T. Foard Funeral Home Directors are family. They have served the Sweetman Family for many, many years and the service we have received from Bob, Frank, Whitney, Dennis and all the R.T. Foard members have made very difficult times and decisions a much easier process due to their caring and compassionate nature. We cannot express how deeply grateful we are to them for all their help in such a time of need.

It's never pleasant when planning a loved one's visitation and funeral. My husband died in September after several months of failing health. While it was not unexpected, it was still a very emotional time for me and my daughters as we took the necessary steps to give him the send off that he deserved. From the initial meeting with the Funeral Director (Lou), consultation and follow up phone calls with the owner (R.T. Foard, Jr.), and interactions with other staff members, I was blown away. The level of professionalism, compassion and obvious concern for my needs, was beyond anything I anticipated. They helped me on so many levels and made me feel that everything would be fine. I have buried many family members who chose to use other funeral homes. None compare to the level of service and expertise I experienced at R. T. Foard & Jones. From the moving and professionally executed video of photos, complete with music, the photo displays, the personalized guest book and other ancillary materials, to the gentlemen who helped direct traffic at the visitation -- I could not have been more pleased. They all did everything they could to make a sad situation as easy as possible to bear. I will be forever grateful.

My mom passed away in April. She had indicated may years ago that she wanted R.T. Foard & Jones on Main St in Newark to handle everything since she had been impressed with other funeral services that she had attended there. We are so glad that she made her wishes known! The staff (specifically Sarah!) was extremely helpful and compassionate. The amount of work that they were able to accomplish within a few days was amazing. They created a photo pamphlet for guests to take, a DVD with music, a photo guest book, a canvas photo collage, etc. They were very helpful in accommodating our wishes for the service. Even though we were there for a sad reason, it was a very uplifting experience. I would highly recommend them.
