Mt Laurel Animal Hospital: Merrifield Rebecca DVM

Been a client here for years now and take multiple types of pets. Cats, snakes, and Rats. Every time I visit it's a pleasant and quick trip. Staff are helpful in front, even when I call 24/7. Their caring, patient, understanding, and answer any and all questions I have.
Sadly my last visit was for a planned euthanization appointment for our pet rat Remy. He had developed a tumor 6 months ago, that grew rapidly the last month. During the prior visit the Dr realized that the tumor was attached to his arm bone and to remove it would mean amputation of the arm. Being a senior rat who was already way past the average lifespan for a rat, we all agreed it'd be more stressful for him to have to relearn living with 1 arm. Also due to other health declines, our family knew euthanizing was the best thing to do. They allowed us to schedule the appointment as far in advance as we liked. They even allowed us to postpone the appointment because he was still doing okay. Then when he took a turn for the worst and I could tell he was in pain and breathing was irregular I called to see if we could move the appointment up. Guess what, they said bring him on any time you want we'll be ready for you guys and have a room for you to be with him privately during the entire sad stressful experience.
We did a surprise visit and it went as well and as smoothly as they said. They took care of everything for me so all I have to do is leave when ready. I knew that they'd offer a adorable clay ornament free of charge of the pets paw prints, from prior experience. It what I got was so much better than a past one I received from my cats death from liver failure years ago. This one was such better quality and came in a professional looking box so it wouldn't be damaged. We also opted to take Remy's body home to bury him in a garden we created for his memory. They had him in a strong durable bag that felt warm and would be safe in any environment. For anyone who is worried of costs, I can promise you that this vet office is by far the better prices for many types of visits. I was shocked many times after we'll visits for my cats and snake at how cheap it was. The costs was always lower than I expected. Euthanasia was only $185 without cremation. And if you want to call and check how much something will be, I've done that too and their happy to answer those questions too.
Overall this place is amazing! I went over 12 yrs ago and hated it. Whatever changed back then before I decided to try again I'm glad it changed because I love this vet office and will continue taking all my pets here in the future.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. We arrived and checked in. Waiting area was full of patients but because we had an appointment, we only waited a couple minutes before being taken back to an exam room. The vet tech was thorough in checking the vitals and getting the background of our guinea pig. We did not wait long, after the vet tech left, for the doctor to arrive. She was also accompanied by a student and the vet tech. They all oohhed and ahhhed over our piggy which made my children more comfortable being in the exam room. The Dr. also did a thorough exam, and we discussed future plans and options of treatment. We will be returning with our pet for further exams and an ultrasound and then decide on treatment plans after we get a diagnosis. I would recommend this vet for exotic and small animals as well as cats and dogs.

The first time I visited it seemed like it was so busy and no one had time for me. I still to this day have not spoken to the vet who took care of my cat. She said she would call about the results and never did and when I tried to call her on a couple different days no one wanted to put me through and it wasn't busy when I called the last time because that was my second visit in. The second visit was great. Not too busy and I was even taken in to the back to talk to the vet in person. But again the phone call that day I ask for the vet who took care of my cat and no one there was allowing that. Very frustrating

We had an emergency visit Sunday morning with Princess they were very courteous took us right in they are so kind hearted and so professional I couldn't of taken our baby girl to a better place thank you all to the staff and doctors you're awesome.

The entire exotics staff and the nighttime emergency staff made a very difficult time for my family a more manageable and kind experience with their compassionate and patient care. My son had to make the very difficult decision to say goodbye to his beloved turtle and the exotics doctor was so gentle, kind, and helpful throughout the whole process. They also made this deeply meaningful keepsake for us to remember his turtle by. I cannot recommend them enough. Thank you! 🥰
