Holistic Veterinarian (VMD), Elizabeth Mckinstry

Dr. McKinstry is one of our favorite people. She quite literally saved the life of my beloved Boxer, Basil, when he was fighting a serious bone infection in 2017 (after knee surgery gone-wrong at another vet). Her application of hybrid Eastern/Western treatments brought fast improvement in my Basil - eventually healing to 100% without additional trauma to his system by way of harsh drugs or more surgeries. Now Basil is almost 11! He still enjoys regular acupuncture for his senior aches. Dr. M. is one of Basil's most trusted friends, which should tell you all you need to know about her character and her healing gifts.

Dr. McKinstry is a brilliant and skilled veterinarian, who practices medicine in its purest and most patient-centered format. Her farm is peaceful and inviting. She is an intuitive, empathic, attentive doctor who offers treatments and personalized care that won't be available at a mainstream vet. Her knowledge of Eastern medicine is something to behold. (Seriously, bring a pen and notebook.) Every time we visit for an appointment, Dr. McKinstry has something new to share about what she's learned, or what she's studying - and how it might help us with what we're working on. Her pursuit of knowledge inspires me.

In addition to my animals' wellness, I feel that I have grown as a person by getting to know Dr. McKinstry. She's taught me how to gently listen and respond to the needs of my animals. I've learned about the importance of food, environment, my own attitude, and how the right mix of these things will maximize overall health and longevity potential in my pets.

When it came time to say goodbye to our special friend (a Russian Donskoy cat named Father Craig), Dr. McKinstry honored his time on earth with dignity and quiet, kind compassion. His departure was calm, and personal. We could not have asked for a better experience for such a sad visit.

I have an appointment tonight for my other Boxer, a seven year old female named Bullet. We can't wait because we know the acupuncture treatment is going to bring such welcomed relief to her aches and pains.

Thank you, Dr. McKinstry. You truly are a light in this world, we don't know what we'd do without your many gifts and incredible care!

I switched to Dr. McKinstry years ago when the traditional vet couldn’t heal my dog’s rash. I didn’t want him to be on meds forever so my mom suggested to try her holistic methods. Thank god I did because immediately I felt like there was a plan to heal my dog inside and out instead of him being on steroids and antibiotics forever. His rash has healed significantly and he hasn’t taken any meds since we started seeing Dr. McKinstry. In addition to that, he’s become more confident and less emotionally reactive. I now have a second pup and they both adore Dr. McKinstry and her office. She’s always gentle and sweet not only with them but with me and my concerns as well. In an overly medicated world, it’s wonderful to have a truthful medical professional who is truly looking out for the well being of all creatures!

And with regards to anyone doubting animal communication - I have to say that after so many years of dealing with the rash daily, we had only one visit to Dr. McKinstry and by following her referral to address my dog’s emotional needs, his rash COMPLETELY disappeared for a year. The rash now appears only to a slight degree when there is emotional stress in my life affecting him. Life changing! I only wish Dr. McKinstry could treat me as well! ❤️❤️❤️

Dr. McKinstry has been seeing my cats and dogs for almost five years. My first experience with her was with my 14 year old 85 lb. arthritic dog. Dr. McKinstry improved his quality of life with herbs and acupuncture and definitely gave us more time with him. Next, was my 7 year old lab with pancreatitis. Dr. McKinstry’s holistic care was a critical component in her care. Most recently, was the care of my cat with hyperthyroid. Dr. Elizabeth went to great lengths to find the best approach for her care. She takes her time with each appointment and made me feel like I was doing everything possible for this kitty and all my pets. I have learned so much from Dr. McKinstry and have in turned helped others. Dr. McKinstry practices out of her home on beautiful farmland. Taking my pets into her “living room” has definitely been so much more comfortable for my pets. Rather than sitting in a waiting room you can walk around her beautiful property. I especially appreciated being able to be with my pets at their appointments during Covid. Her approach compliments traditional veterinary care. Currently, Dr. McKinstry cares for my 3 dogs and two cats. We will be introducing a new kitten to her soon! Dr. McKinstry is a knowledgeable holistic veterinarian who offers so much for pet owners. She is kind and compassionate and I am so grateful to have found her. I highly recommend her practice!

Dr. McKinstry is a very caring, helpful, professional vet. She is currently treating my cat with UTI and crystals. She is the only vet agreed to see my cat for first time the day after Christmas when every other place were either closed or had 8 to 9 hours waiting. My cat is recovering.
