We needed to go cross country as part of a move with my elderly dog and settled on a motor home even though we had never had one or experienced it before. I contacted Mona a few months in advance and she was helpful and upfront about pricing and fees. Many of the reviews I see here that complain about no refunds due to short notice were actually well within the terms of the rental agreement - read what you sign.
Mona was also responsive about getting insurance and navigating that. We were a one way rental which incurred additional fees but again I’m not complaining - they were up front about the cost and that additional charges related to the return would be made after our rental was done especially because we had a pet and it might need additional cleaning.
The RV itself was newer (the Tiffin Wayfarer) and I could drive it despite never having handled something that big before. Watched a few videos on pivot points and tailswing and I was fine.
A few minor points on the RV - the gray and black water sensors did not function well - showing 33% when they were clearly empty. The drawer and cabinet latches were terrible - I drove extremely carefully and we still had several events where the cabinets and drawers flew open. Otherwise though the auto leveler, extension, awning and all appliances worked as advertised. The generator would mysteriously cut out sometimes but always promptly restarted.
In hindsight our orientation to the RV and it’s functions was rushed and cursory - I would have loved a more patient and thorough time given we were rv noobs. That only became clear the more we operated it.
We did have one mechanical issue - the parking brake refused to disengage and we had to find a mobile truck service on a weekend. The number I called for the “24/7” roadside assistance with MBA went to a voicemail so that wasn’t ideal but also not really all star’s fault. The brake was fixed (thanks Jed in Tennessee!) but it wasn’t a great experience as I had to pay for it upfront in cash, but then you do what you have to when stranded with an old dog.
In summary, as a first time motorhome renter who drove 3300 miles and made 12 stops at RV parks the RV worked largely as advertised, we had a few problems which didn’t ruin the trip and though it was expensive I was aware of that ahead of time and because I communicated a lot with the team I was not surprised by any of the fees when my final invoice came in 2 weeks after we handed it back to Herman. For me, who had a lot of atypical needs including a pet and long one way trip, i got what I wanted.

Hello out there :) So I guess I will be the risk taker and move forward with renting from All Star Coaches. I have been working with Mona since February to find the perfect RV for my summer family road trip. In reading all of the poor reviews I must admit, I was very hesitant however, there aren't many other decent RV rental companies near me (New Jersey). So, I am letting the Universe guide me, taking a deep breath and moving forward with my plan to rent from All Star. So far, Mona has been extremely patient with me and willing to answer my thousands of questions. I'm sure you are probably saying, "duh! it's to get your money." This very well could be true however, I'm hopeful that all of her efforts are as genuine as they seem. I understand mishaps happen however, I'm looking to avoid as many unexpected transactions as possible. I hope that our (several) transparent conversations lead to positive outcomes for me, my family, and the company/renter. I will be the guinea pig for the rest of you and of course will keep you updated on the type of RV I rented, the cleanliness, pricing (hopefully no sudden fees), etc. I will rate and review again.
